HYDERABAD, Jan 1: The PPP candidate for the NA-210 Kashmore seat, Sheharyar Mazari, has said that a large number of polling stations needed to be declared highly sensitive to avert a possibility of violence.
In a communication addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, Mr Mazari said that since the assassination of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto, PPP workers were being victimised in Kashmore.
He said that burning and destruction of public property was a dreadful act, but the people who committed the acts of vandalism were hoodlums and looters who exploited the sense of grief and outpouring of people’s outrage over the assassination.
He said that taking advantage of the turmoil and rioting, District Nazim Saleem Jan Mazari ordered his SHOs to arrest PPP workers and supporters.
He said the SHOs had played a partisan role in terrorising voters, his supporters and future election agents.
He requested the chief election commissioner to ensure that complete neutrality was observed during the polls, otherwise, the elections would be a farce.
